Gisele Bundchen BiographyShe was born on July 20, 1980 in Tres de Maio, Rio Grande do Sul in the country of Brazil. She was the daughter of a bank clerk pensioner Vania Nonnemacher Bundchen and teacher and writer Valdir Reinoldo Bunchen. Unknown to a lot of people, Gisele has a fraternal twin named Patricia who is younger than Gisele by five minutes. Together with her 5 other siblings, they have been nurturing their culture of German and Southern Brazilian descent. Gisele never thought of entering the modeling industry, her first dream was to become a professional volleyball player for the Brazilian team. As a young Gisele, she was teased at school and was called names like “Olivia Palito”, which means Popeye’s very thin girl friend Olive Oyl. At age 14, a modeling agent discovered her when she was eating at McDonald’s. In 1993, Gisele enrolled in a modeling course with two of her sisters, Patricia and Gabriela. Dilson Stein spearheaded the program. A year later he took Gisele along with other students to Sao Paulo where he invited Brazilian Elite Models to evaluate and take a look at the girls. Giselle was chosen to join the local Elite Look of the Year where she bagged second place. She then took a step closer to popularity and fame when she joined the world contest for Elite Look of the Year in Ibiza, Spain where she placed fourth. In 1996, she pushed her fate and went to New York City, started professional modeling and did her first stint at the Fashion Week. In 1999, she was the cover girl of Vogue and won the Vogue Model of the Year in that same year. She was also given the rare opportunity to be named The Most Beautiful Girl in the World by Rolling Stone and got three consecutive cover page appearances in Vogue. Then on, she was offered a number of advertising and promotional contracts from high-end brands from all over the world. To name a few of the signature and elite brands she is modeling for, popular names include Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Missoni, Givenchy, Lanvin, Bvlgari, Guerlain, Ralph Lauren, Valentino, Chloe, Zara, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and Victoria Secret. Not long after she dominated magazine pages, she also ventured in doing television commercials. In 2006, she was the official endorser of the new line of Macintosh computers. The shoe company Grendene also gave her free hands to create her own line of sandals which sell as much as $230 a pair. By 2004, she started filming her first movie “Taxi” where she played Vanessa. She also played Serena in them movie “The Devil Wears Prada”. She also started doing hosting jobs and was lucky enough to host the VH1 Fashion Awards. With all the awards and her busy schedule, Gisele is indeed the model supermodel of the world. |
